How do you unwind after a demanding day?

As a middle school counselor, some days are low key and others are pretty intense.

But one thing I can say for sure is that no matter what happens during the day, a walk in nature is always the right call.

I am fortunate in that I live a couple of blocks away from a walking path that goes around a lake.

Sometimes I go for a walk by myself, but most of the time my husband and I walk together.

We chat about our respective days, the highs and the lows.

Sometimes we don’t say much at all. We listen to the birds nearby and the wind rustling through the trees. We take in the loveliness of the moment.

When we arrive back to our humble abode, I feel a stronger sense of peace and contentment.

A walk in nature is always the right antidote no matter what ails me.

As a middle school and high school teacher, I just wanted to stop by and say thank you. Your job is so crucial and I know it can be very demanding

  2. Well said. This is a great reminder for me. It is funny how life can sweep us away from what is actually best.
