Focus on the routine stuff.

This is day one of my spring break as a school counselor in a middle school. I’ve been asked more than once what my plans are for the week.

I’m going to focus on the routine stuff, because that’s the good stuff.

And today has been a good day.

I had two appointments this morning, cleaning at the dentist and annual mammogram.

The Dentist.

After a minor tongue lashing for not confirming my appointment, the visit went well. And to be honest, the receptionist was very polite about it, but I know a reprimand when I hear it.

My dentist is pregnant with twins. We talked about how busy they are going to be once they arrive (a boy and a girl). They have a nearly two-year-old who will also be welcoming the twins home in June.

My hygienist is the bomb! Get yourself a hygienist who is thorough and you don’t feel like your mouth has been through a battle.

I have a filling that fell out on the side of one of my teeth, but there was no infection. And the even better news is that I can get in tomorrow morning to have it filled. Plus, my school district’s dental insurance is amazing, and I have no copay for fillings.

I’m not over the moon excited about going to the dentist every six months. I’m grateful for the coverage, my dentist, my hygienist, and even the receptionist. 🙂

The Mammogram.

Getting an annual mammogram is a necessity and also so very painful. My size A boobs barely have enough to squeeze.

And I always love when the technician says, “Are you doing okay? Keep breathing through it. You’re doing great.”

What am I going to say?

“No, this sucks. Can you not?”

But believe me, meditation pays off 100% because I do know how to breathe through it.

When I walked out of my appointment, it was one minute before my appointment was supposed to start.

And a already have my results back. Clear for another year.

And the rest of my day.

When I got home, I made a list of things I want to get done around the house this week. The weather for most of the week is going to be rainy, so I’m making a lot of indoor plans.

I did go out for a two-mile walk. I’m grateful for the lake that is about three blocks from our home. If you walk all the way around it is 6+ miles. I’m not even close to being ready for that, but I did walk 2 miles.

The best part of my walk was all the people waving. Whether it was a fellow walker or cyclist, everyone was in a great mood. On the three block trek back home, people in their vehicles waved as well.

In Conclusion.

While there’s more left to the day, I’m focused on the routine stuff. The little things. And so now I’m going to head outside to read.

Until next time,

Cheers. 🙂
